Phillipskop is a great location for small groups of up to approximately 30 people to get away together. Although each chalet is privately located, they are close enough together to make them ideal for booking two or more chalets at the same time for a small group, or even for several families wanting to holiday together.

Self-catering chalet near Stanford with view across Overberg

*All of the chalets are spacious and the open-plan layout of the living area provides ample room to hold small meetings or share a meal together.

*Each chalet sleeps up to 7 people in three bedrooms: one double en suite; one room with two single beds and one with three single beds, sharing a bathroom. Bedding & towels are provided.

*If you book for a weekend outside of high season, your group can stay until 3pm on Sunday, as we do not take Sunday check-ins (exceptions apply – so please do check with us)

*Groups have full access to the reserve and hiking trails, and overnight guests have exclusive use of our natural swimming pool.

*Please note: we are a quiet venue, so please avoid amplified music.

Catering

Our chalets are self-catering, with spacious and well-equipped kitchens (all fitted with gas stoves, to ensure cooking can continue even if there is a powercut). However, if you would prefer not to cook, the following caterers will be happy to provide you with a quote for catering for your group’s visit to Phillipskop:

A group catering cupboard is available, so that your group can all eat together in one chalet, without having to move crockery between chalets.

We can also supply additional trestle tables for your group – please request these in advance.

Please note: as a fully self-catering venue, there is no servicing of the chalets during your stay. This also means that we expect our guests to do their washing up before leaving.

Additional resources for groups

Please contact us if you require a projector and screen for your group’s meetings. Limited battery backup is also available in case of load shedding at a crucial moment.

Free WiFi is available in all of our chalets.

In Erica Chalet, you can access free Christian movies via our Lightstream GoWifi box.

Group activities/ facilitation

We can offer to facilitate groups for a single session (1.5-2 hrs), a half day (3-4 hours), or a full day (2x half day sessions plus one evening session) of experiential learning geared towards your age-group and level of background knowledge, incorporating guided walks, talks and activities.

Our core focus and areas of expertise at Phillipskop are the environment and conservation. As Christians we also love to share how our faith motivates us in these areas (but we will always respect your wishes if you prefer us not to bring this into our sessions). Suggested topics for walks, talks and activities include:

  • Guided walks – introduction to the fynbos, specialist botanical walks, rock art & heritage site, stargazing, FAB (Family Activity Bible) Trails, Ebenezer (our Cairn of Thankfulness) Trail
  • Practical conservation education / activities – in your chalet and out and about on the reserve.
  • Talks –  Phillipskop Mountain Reserve, fynbos, patterns in plants, conservation topics, creation care theology & practise, devotions, Bible studies

Please contact Anna (anna@phillipskop.co.za / 073 016 8406) to discuss your group’s program and requirements, and to get a quote.
